How to find things that make you happy

When we’re surrounded by busy schedules, challenging moments, and things we don’t enjoy it’s hard to remember what we do enjoy. Figuring out what brings you joy and gives you a happy life isn’t always easy, but we can put ourselves in the right places and frame of mind to help make it easier.

Some of my favorite ways to find things that make me happy include:

  • Heading outside and listen to the sounds of nature
  • Getting cozy on the sofa with a blanket and reflecting on my week
  • Writing in a gratitude journal
  • Thinking of my favorite memories and moments
  • Asking friends and family members what makes me light up

Sometimes it’s about finding the simple pleasures in life and finding a way to focus on the good within your daily routine. The cool wind on your skin, the sunlight peeking through a tree, or the glimpse of a squirrel running in front of you. Other times that life satisfaction is more practical, like watching your favorite episode of a TV show or treating yourself to your favorite take out.

It’s great to have a mix of things that you can enjoy for days where you have low energy or low funds, and the times where you want to indulge or have enough energy to take on the world.
