Self care is for everyone. It’s for the introverts and the extroverts. And while any self care idea can appeal to anyone, it totally makes sense that there’s some that particularly appeal to the introverts among us.
With this in mind, and being an introvert myself, I thought I’d put together a list of introvert self care ideas. There’s something in here for everyone — and you don’t have to be an introvert to enjoy them, either.
And I thought I’d cut out the fluff, too. You don’t need me to tell you what an introvert is or give you a long backstory on my experience as an introvert. Let’s quickly get into what makes something a great self care idea for introverts then jump straight to the good stuff — the best introvert self care ideas. 💛
What makes something a great introvert self care idea?
Us introverts need a lot of alone time, downtime, or quiet time to get some peace and relaxation. That naturally goes hand in hand with self care, which is perfect! But not every self care idea works for people that favor introversion — at least, not everyone, or not all the time.
There’s no “one size fits all” approach when it comes to deciding whether a self care idea is for introverts, extroverts, or everyone-verts BUT here are some things that I think make a self care activity a great option for introverts:
- It works great as an independent or alone-time activity
- It doesn’t require you to leave the house
- It aligns with typically introvert-friendly ideas or activities
- It feels relaxing and refreshing, rather than tiring or draining
Some of these ideas will check every box, while others won’t. It’s mostly a list of idea that I either personally enjoy, or think that you might enjoy, as an introvert.

37 of the best introvert self care ideas
Ready to find the perfect way to recharge? Here are some of the best self care ideas for fellow introverts. 🧡
1. Write in your journal
Journaling can be a great way to get your thoughts down onto paper and find a way to reset, recharge, and unwind. If you’re not sure where to start, I have lots of positive journal prompts you can use.
2. Take a self care bath
Taking a bubble bath is such a self care cliché, but sometimes it’s right for you. Grab your favorite bubble bath or a bath bomb, light a candle, get a good book and settle in for a long soak or a self care bath.
3. Play cozy video games
I love playing video games, and cozy ones are some of the best — especially if you love playing solo. Pick up something like Stardew Valley or Pokémon, but remember that anything can be a cozy game if you say it is.
4. Make playlists
Haven’t made a new playlist in a while? Now’s the perfect time. Think of all the songs you’ve enjoyed recently and add them to a new list with a catchy title, then play it on repeat.
5. Read affirmations out loud
Reading affirmations can be a great way to practice self love and remind yourself what your goals and thoughts are. Don’t know where to start? I have a whole collection of different affirmations to choose from. 💛
6. Go for a coffee shop date
Love a latte or a hot chocolate? Head to your favorite coffee shop or try somewhere new. This works as a social thing, but it’s also a great introvert self care or solo date idea. Take a book, your laptop, or just sit and enjoy the ambiance.
7. Take a social media detox
I love scrolling through Instagram and Pinterest for inspiration, but sometimes all the scrolling can have an impact on your mental health. A great self care idea is to try a digital declutter or social media detox to change your habits and clear up your digital spaces.
8. Read a good book
Reading is one of the best self care activities out there, in my opinion — and I’m not even a big reader! Pick up a non-fiction or fiction book, find somewhere cozy to sit, and read to your heart’s content. I recently bought a Kindle and made myself a “no phones” rule before bed, and it’s amazing how much reading you can get in that way.
9. Go for a nature walk
If you walk a lot to get around, sometimes you’re so busy you don’t notice all the sights and sounds around you. Instead of spending time on your phone, try going for a nature walk instead. Embrace all things wellness and feel grounded to the world around you.
10. Listen to a podcast
Sometimes the best thing to do is enhance what you’re already doing and listen to a podcast. I like listening to audio while I tidy up, clean, or go for a walk, but you could also sit down with a coffee and watch a video podcast instead.
11. Read self improvement books
Looking after your own wellbeing and personal development is one of my favorite self care activities. I’m a big fan of reading non-fiction and self development books and think it’s a great way to enhance your knowledge, pick up some new productivity tips, and rekindle your inspiration.
12. Have an at-home spa day
Don’t feel like going to the spa? Don’t worry, you can have your own spa day at home instead. Get out the face masks, paint your nails, try out a new makeup look, and take some time out to pamper yourself.
13. Watch your favorite movie
Has it been a while since you last re-watched an old favorite? It’s time to fix that now! Get cozy on the sofa or in bed with a blanket and watch a movie that you know you love.
14. Make a self care routine
It’s so important to practice self care, but it’s difficult to find room for it in the everyday. One way to combat that is to come up with a self care routine that’s simple and straightforward. Spend some time having fun putting one together, or take some ideas from my slow morning routine.
15. Bake something
Pick up a recipe you’ve used before or look in a cookbook or online for a new-to-you baking recipe and give it a go. Whether it’s chocolate cookies, mini vanilla cupcakes, or something more experimental, it’s fun to bake alone.
16. Listen to your favorite album or record
Like your favorite movie, it’s time to give your favorite music the spotlight it deserves! Grab a record or put together a spotify playlist that reflects music you’ve known and loved, and spend some time enjoying the nostalgia.
17. Dance in your living room
Okay okay, who said you need any occasion for a dance party? Not only is this physical activity a great way to release some feel-good vibes, but it’s a reminder to be playful, childlike, and carefree.
18. Cook a new recipe
Maybe baking isn’t your thing, but cooking is? Instead of baking a sweet treat, grab a recipe book and find a dish that looks exciting to you. Head to the grocery store, shop for ingredients, then come home and cook along to the recipe while your favorite playlist is on.
19. Plan a room refresh
I used to love switching things up in my room when I was a kid. If you did too, give yourself permission to refresh a room or space in your home. Whether you go for a big refresh with paint and DIY, or simply move things around and add some fresh flowers, this can be a lovely way to invest in yourself and your space.
20. Take part in an online community
Most of these introvert self care ideas are for spending time alone, but this one involves other people too. If meeting up in person feels a bit out of reach, or if you prefer online, then get involved with a community — it can be for a hobby, your career, your local area, or simply a casue that you care about.
21. Learn a new hobby
You could even combine this with the idea above, and use your alone time as an opportunity to find a new hobby to get involved with. There are so many to choose from — I really recommend having a look through my list of relaxing hobbies to find one that you’ll love.
22. Work on a side hustle
I’m all about the side hustle! I think it’s such a wonderful way to not only build something for your career, but also to discover more about who you are and what you enjoy. It can also be helpful if you feel like you’re approaching burnout — give yourself some time and space to explore a passion project away from your main career or calling.
23. Set boundaries
This is one of those self care tips for everyone, but I think it’s especially relevant for us introverts. Get comfortable with saying no. I know it’s super uncomfortable, but setting boundaries around your work, relationships, and general life can give you more freedom and confidence to pursue life the way you want it.
24. Try meditation
Meditation isn’t for everyone, but if it’s been a while it’s worth giving it another go. Some deep breathing and reflection can go a long way towards helping you feel calmer. If you’re a total newbie to this, like me, then try this guide on how to meditate.
25. Watch the sunrise or sunset
It might mean getting up extra early or switching up your evening plans, but watching the sunrise or sunset can give you a real mood-boost — or at least I think so! It’s a lovely reminder to take things day to day, and that there’s always the beauty of sunrise to look forward to.
26. Catch up with a loved one
I love my alone time, but sometimes it’s also nice to have a little social interaction in the day or week. If you feel the same way, make plans to catch up with a close friend or family member for a coffee, lunch, or a walk in the fresh air.
27. Visit a museum or gallery
There are so many museums and galleries out there, but if you’re like me then you probably don’t step foot inside them alone. It’s one of those social situations that gives me a little anxiety, but these places are actually ideal for an introvert self care moment as you can take your time to explore exhibits and enjoy the artwork on your own time.
28. Take a nap
Napping is some people’s favorite form of self care, and I can see why. I really struggle to nap, but if you don’t, then this is a wonderful way to give yourself a refresh and mood-boost during the day.
29. Declutter your home
Who loves a clear and clutter-free home? Me! Who’s really bad at keeping things tidy? Also me. Assign some time to decluttering your home to enjoy that spring clean feeling at any time.
30. Get into photography
Taking photos is one of the best ways to feel in the moment and also have something to reflect on in the future. I used to take a lot of photos, but these days I don’t — so if you’re the same then let this introvert self care idea inspire you to pick up the hobby once again.
31. Watch inspirational YouTube videos
If you have a similar personality type to me, then you know how good an inspirational or feel-good YouTube video is. I love watching videos that inspire me to live my best life — whether it’s watching someone go about their everyday life, or discovering a better way to budget or organize my time.
32. Write a letter to your future self
It’s easy to get lost living in the day-to-day and forget that these will one day be memories for your future self. Write a letter to your future self now and seal it away, so you can look back on how you used to feel.
33. Go window shopping
Window shopping is so much fun. Even if I’m not ready to buy yet, I love exploring stores to get inspiration on everything from color palettes and shapes to tips on how I can style my home and my looks.
34. Cuddle a pet
If you have a pet, go give them a big snuggle for me! It’s such an honor to be able to take care of a fuzzy little best friend, so don’t ever feel guilty about spending too long on the sofa snuggled up beside them.
35. Make a bucket list
For an introvert self care idea that’s both motivating and productive, write a bucket list. This could be for anything from your general life, to your career goals, or tasks to motivate you to life your best life.
36. Have a cozy solo sleepover
Who says you need to invite people over for a sleepover? Prepare all the same cozy essentials, popcorn, movies, and hot drinks, and recharge your social battery with an introvert-friendly slumber party.
37. Plan a self care day
Last but not least, it’s my favorite self care idea for everyone — a self care day! A whole day (or an afternoon) dedicated to taking care of your body, mind, and soul. My guide on how to plan a self care day has everything you need to get started.
